Description

Minerva MF501 Addressable Ion Chamber Smoke Detector

These detectors react to the visible and invisible fire aerosols (products of combustion) and are therefore capable of detecting the early presence of hot smouldering and flaming fires such as wood and paper, etc. They are particularly suitable for general applications in all areas and use a dual ionisation chamber in which the air is ionised by a single radioactive source (33kBq Americium 241).

The presence of smoke in the sampling chamber causes a change in the balance voltage, between the two chambers which is them compared against alarm level or converted to a current level transmitted as an analogue value.

These detectors are the Minerva legacy range fitted to system in the early 90’s. These were superceded by the MF901 Addressable Detector, however, these are not backward compatable without a software configuration change.

For direct replacement without a configuration change replace a 500 series detector with a 500 series detector; please bear in mind that the address for the detector is set in the base on this series.

Please note these legacy detectors are obsolete, however, we can still supply this detector and base if required.
